DELAWARE TECHNICAL & COMMUNITY COLLEGE

A statewide institution of higher education, providing academic, technical, continuing education, and industrial training opportunities to every resident of Delaware at four conveniently located campuses. Several degree programs are offered, and the Associate in Applied Science degree is granted upon successful completion of specific curriculum requirements. In addition, diploma and certificate programs are offered in a variety of technical areas at each campus.
Students of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life have benefited from the training and education that is provided. It is estimated that one-fourth of Delaware's population has taken courses at Delaware Tech during its short history.
ACCREDITATION
The College and its campuses are fully accredited by the Commission on Higher Education, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, several curricula have earned program-based accreditation by various professional organizations.

BULGARIA NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WATER QUALITY

The Bulgaria National Association of Water Quality is an independent, nonpolitical, nongovernmental organization of individuals and other organizations whose purpose is to further the goal of improving and preserving the environment, and particularly water resources, in Bulgaria. Engineers, water and wastewater managers, professors, and others employed in the water quality or the environmental field are members.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The BNAWQ, by itself, or in association with Bulgarian, international, or foreign organizations and professionals is involved in a wide range of activities including
research; development of new wastewater treatment plants and the upgrading of existing ones to increase levels of purification; ecological engineering education; organization of seminars, conferences and symposia, in the field of
water quality; publication and
public information; and activities related to the harmonization of Bulgaria's laws and regulations with international conventions, standards and
treaties.

UNITED STATES AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

USAID provides the funds for the implementation of this project to develop the Bulgaria Water and Wastewater Operators Training Center through a cooperative agreement with Delaware Technical & Community College. USAID is an independent federal government agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State. It was created in 1961 by executive order from President John. Kennedy , although its roots extend back to the Marshall Plan created during the Truman Administration after World War II. "Since that time, USAID has been the principal U.S. agency to extend assistance to countries recovering from disaster, trying to escape poverty, and engaging in democratic reforms."
USAID defines its work as supporting long-term and equitable economic growth and advancing U.S. foreign policy objectives by supporting: economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health; and, democracy, conflict resolution and humanitarian assistance. It provides assistance in four regions of the world: Sub-Saharan Africa; Asia and the Near East; Latin America and the Caribbean, and; Europe and Eurasia through its extensive network of field offices around the world. USAID's services are provided in partnership with private voluntary organizations, indigenous organizations, universities, American businesses, international agencies, other governments, and other U.S. government agencies. USAID has working relationships with more than 3,500 American companies and over 300 U.S.-based private voluntary organizations.
