Arabic - Level I    $125
Arabic is the language of the religion of Islam, and is also spoken as
a native language by over 250 million people worldwide. Arabic script is used in a variety of non-Arabic languages, including Urdu, Punjabi, Kurdish and Farsi. This course focuses on the 28 letters of the Arabic alphabet. Students will learn to read, write, and pronounce these letters while building essential vocabulary for beginner's conversation.Textbook additional.

Arabic - Level III
Designed for students with knowledge of the fundamentals of Arabic, this course will begin with a review of vocabulary, writing skills, and comprehension. Students will review through speed exercises, which will strongly increase confidence and conversational flow. The breadth of the course will then focus on the reading of basic conversations between Arabic speakers. This method will improve reading speed, vocabulary, pronunciation, and the understanding of the mechanics
of grammar. Students will be quizzed weekly on vocabulary, and will be asked to translate basic dialogs into English.

Chinese - Level I    $125
This is an introduction Chinese language course for beginners.
Topics include basic conversations, simple Chinese character recognition and writing, culture, and simple craft.

This course continues to build fundamental listening, speaking, reading and writing ability in Mandarin Chinese. It will include
dialogue practice, conversation, and reading of a simple article. Chinese II is for those who have learned basic sound system
(pin-yin), oral expression, basic patterns and writing system or completed an introductory class.

Chinese - Level III    $125
This is a beginner Chinese Language Course for those who have completed Chinese I and II at DTCC or for those who have learned Chinese sound system (pinyin), basic patterns and writing system and want to learn more about written form in Chinese. Through interactive activities, students will be exposed to various communicative situations that require them to develop and use skills such as basic summary, description, discussion, debate, and report.

The objective of this course continues to build fundamental listening, speaking, reading and writing ability in Mandarin Chinese. Students will have opportunity to do the interpersonal communication, presentation in both speaking and writing, and comprehend what
they hear and read. Students in Chinese IV will use learning tool, such as Chinese dictionary, to improve their reading comprehension. Chinese IV is for those who have learned basic Chinese patterns and writing system or for those who have completed the basic Chinese I,
II and III.

This course is an intermediate level English course for non-native speakers that prepares students to communicate in their own words in the three principal areas of their lives: the workplace, the community, and the home. Each lesson will include vocabulary, practical conversations, and grammar. The intermediate level assumes the student has had previous English instruction and is
no longer at a beginner level.

This introduction to beginning communication skills through the language of sign, with an emphasis in American Sign Language (ASL), introduces students to basic grammatical structures and sign vocabulary through conversational classroom interactions involving everyday topics. Emphasis is on basic vocabulary, grammar, and cultural information about ASL as students learn how to communicate in a visual-gestural channel. No prior knowledge of ASL is required.
