What is Upward Bound?
Upward Bound is a year-round program designed to assist participants to improve academic and study skills in high school, to develop career and educational plans, and to enter and succeed in higher education. To reach these goals the program is divided into
two components: The Academic Year and The Summer Enrichment Academy. During the Academic Year, students engage in weekly one-on-one meetings with an Upward Bound Coordinator at their school, attend events and workshops on campus and travel to local colleges for college information tours. During the Summer Enrichment Academy, on the DTCC campus, students attend a six week day program, which involves high school academic courses, workshops, activities, college campus tours, and attend cultural and recreational trips.
