Phi Theta Kappa International Convention - Ignite the fire within!
Co-President Irma Giglia, Vice-President Kenneth Pinó, and member Karen Ross traveled to Minneapolis from March 31st to April 4th to attend Phi Theta Kappa's 2004 International Convention with title, "Ignite the fire within".
The convention was a combination of awesome speakers, talented performers, great workshops, the best fun, and the smartest 2-year college students of course!
It is difficult to explain in words the power and energy of this event. But just by telling you that the three of us came back changed forever should be enough to understand it.
All along we wished that all of you were with us sharing this wonderful experience. We hope that these pictures and little description make up for the fact that it was not possible.

Project Graduation: We are asking all members to collect non-perishable food items and children's books in good condition. There will be a dumpster in the southeast lobby to drop off your donations. Ask friends and family to help in this worthwhile cause. Last year we donated all the items collected to a transitional house for women. We chose the Epiphany house on 4 th St. Many of the women and children have come out of abusive relationships and are trying to start over. It was a good feeling that we were able to help these families see there are helping hands out there. Project Graduation will run through Friday, March 26 th . Evelyn Anderson, co-president, is organizing this project.

Bingo anyone?: We are looking for people who like to play Bingo. The Veteran's Association in Elsmere has Bingo the first Monday in April and May. They are looking for volunteers to play along with the veterans. The games are from 6:45pm-8:00pm . I will get directions for anyone interested. Email me (Irma) with any questions.

Valentine's Day party:
We are planning a Valentine's Day party for a Cub Scout troop of homeless boys in Wilmington . It will be on Tuesday, February 10 th , from 6:30-7:30pm. We will be having fun with approximately 15 boys ranging in ages from 7-11. We will need to carpool because parking is limited. The location is a childcare center at 221 N. Jackson St . This should be fun. (Hint-set is in the answer) All the details will be taken care of; all you have to do is show up. Any ideas for games are welcome.
If you plan to join, contact co-president Irma, or let her know at the next meeting.

First Induction Ceremony (12/4/03): Small induction ceremony for all members who joined in the fall semester. Held in Conference room D from 11:00-1:00. Refreshments and snacks will be served along with a short video.

AI DuPont hospital: A huge pat on the back for Evelyn for organizing a group to go to AI DuPont hospital to spend time with the kids. We all had a great time; we played bingo, pool, house, air hockey and colored. We gave every child a gift and a smile.
