Maple V 5.0 Install Notes
Reference Web Links
Observations
- Installed Maple 5.1 using exact same procedure --- (MMK 7/29/99)
- ATI Rage 128 video cards do not display graphs (windows NT) when in 16 or 32
bit color mode
- 8-bit color mode works properly
- Informed Waterloo about this, waiting for resolution.
Initial Test Install Notes
- Network version. CD only allows network install option
- Appears to not do much of anything at all on client station (set
some registry entries, add an uninstall.icu file)
- Runs from network server using UNC. Must install to accessible share
- Requires authorization code. Filled out form on maplesoft web site
requesting copy.
Install Steps
- Run setup, install to server path on a share users can access.
- Create a virgin test station for sysdiff purposes
- logon as adminstrator and open a command window
- map a network drive to same drive letter used during user logons
(example: net use g: \\apache\nt /user:yourusername)
- Open an explorer window and browse to %systemroot%\profiles\all users\start menu\Programs
(to prepare for creating an icon to program later)
- mkdir \sysdiff
- cd \sysdiff
- sysdiff /snap snapshot
- cd to network distribution point (in the .\client directory of maple)
- run setup.exe, answer prompts with defaults
(For some reason, it runs for a few minutes with no visual feedback
and appears to be hung but isn't)
- Create a shortcut to wmaple in bin.wnt directory on server
- sysdiff /diff /c:"Maple V release 5" snapshot maple.sd
- run wmaple out of bin.wnt directory and enter license data. Quit
- copy mapleV.sd to unattend/sysdiff directory
- Go to server, set maple/license directory to 1777 perms
- Log out, log in as normal user
- Run Maple. Quit Maple
- Go to server, chmod logfile.lic to 666
- Done! :)
