Good Times in the First State!
They say that there is a tourism industry in Delaware.
We even have an
office dedicated
to promoting it. Well, if you read the comments about Delaware from
Hot Wired's
World
Beat column, the tourism office has it's work cut out for it. But hey,
it's my birthplace, it was the first state, we have no stinking lousy
sales tax here.
Those of us born here feel very fortunate (to have survived) since we also
have the second
highest rate (DC is first) of cancer deaths in the nation here!
So come visit today!
Wondering what to do in Delaware? Well, the natives flock to the
beach every weekend during the summer, so you may want to avoid that area
on the weekends. Hanging at the Christiana Mall is a fave activity of
teens on Friday and Saturday night, but only God knows what the attraction
is. Hip people (I hear!) go to Philadelphia or New York City for fun,
if that's indicitive of anything. Traditional tourist stuff like going to the
Delaware Art Museum, for example, is something no Delawarean does.
But, believe it or not, there's a lot of pages describing stuff to do!

While we have more than our fair share of Mickey D's and Pizza Sluts,
there are a lot of other really good places to munch out at
in Delaware. My fave
spot is the Charcoal Pit, but alas, they don't have a web page. For those
of you who are snobs and trying to impress someone by blowing more for
a meal than you would for a fine stereo, don't miss a visit to the
Green Room in the Hotel DuPont. Unfortunately, it requires "appropriate"
dress, so Weave don't do that scene! [updated: 14dec96]
Delaware sure has a load of places to stay, although most of them are
snug up against the turnpikes, resort areas, or the cities of Dover and
Wilmington. Unfortunately, none of them seem very reasonable. If you can
snag a room for less than $50/night and not have to share it with any
"critters," then count yourself fortunate. [updated: 30mar97]
The Art Scene contains a plethora of links to theatrical productions,
and concert info. Plus, a recent addition includes on-line movie theater
information for places in Northern Delaware!

What would you call it when a bunch of people sit around, get drunk, and then
go running for several miles? A sport? A hobby? Insanity? Well, that's
just one example of what you'll find in the Sports and Hobbies page.

Delaware is pretty lacking in decent radio and TV stations. Most of us
watch out-of-state TV (Philadelphia or Salisbury, for example). Therefore,
the above page points to stations serving Delaware residents, but are
not necessarily Delaware stations. [updated: 03nov96]
