The Current Scoop
What's on TV
The above links go right to current TV listings, from the TV Guide web
site. You can browse up to two weeks in the future, as well as get listings
for other regions. [reviewed: 09feb97]
Movies
What to see
An absolutely incredible and useful page. This has to be the first site I've
ever visited that makes intelligent use of frames. I usually hate the
darn things, but in this case, the frame feature makes the site.

What not to see
Patrick Stoner, from WHYY TV-12, reviews movies. Also contains text of
his various celebrity interviews. Worth regular visits. [reviewed:

Current Events
Delaware Direct is a top notch web site listing current events throughout
Delaware. Many events have links to further information.
This site has been redesigned recently, with tourism and business information
added. Unfortunately, some of the info requires the Adobe Acrobat reader.
This really defeats the web's largest advantage, which is platform
and client independence. For example, I view the web using Netscape
running on a UNIX system. Guess I am outta luck, eh? [reviewed: 04feb97]
News
Keep in touch with what's happening in Delaware, even if you're one of
the lucky ones who is currently out-of-state! We're blessed with some
excellent web sites that publish news stories about the news in Delaware.
The Delmarva Report is updated DAILY by the folks at WBOC, TV Channel
16. It includes searchable archives of past stories. Stories concentrate
mainly on news of Southern Delaware and the Delmarva Peninsula. Each
story usually includes a few still shots from their video shown on
their actual TV news reports. [reviewed: 31aug96]
The Delaware Coast Press is updated weekly. Stories tend to be explored
in greater depth than the Delmarva Report, but that's to be expected when
comparing a print publication to TV news. [reviewed: 31aug96]
Published monthly. This site publishes information of interest more
to the business community though there is often subjects of interest
to investors, and the general public. [reviewed: 31aug96]
Very impressive indeed! This
little weekly paper in Newark has their own web pages and posts current
headlines on it weekly. I particularly like their "year in review" pages
that cover headlines from 94 through 96. They also have a separate page
with specific news to the Route 40/Bear/Glasgow area.

As part of their "@delaware" service, the News-Journal publishes select
local stories of interest to Delawareans. They are promising to list
real-estate and help-wanted ads in the future as well. [reviewed: 27may97]

Opinion / Editorials
By Others
Weekly columns by former Delaware governor Pete duPont.
Pete duPont is credited
(even by Democrats!) for taking a failing Delaware economy and doing
innovative things to steer Delaware into one of the most healthiest
states in the nation. Of course, some other states may not like how
we stole numerous businesses from them, but that's just sour grapes!

These columns are published weekly in the News-Journal. Very clearly written
to be understood by anyone, yet always accurate and technically correct.
In short, Richard Gordon has pulled off what seems to be impossible in
this industry. A techie who knows his stuff yet can still speak English
to the masses. [reviewed: 07jul97]

Weather Forecasts and Images
Weather sites tend to be very popular. Luckily, Delaware
weather is served by quite a few sites, so hopefully you can get the
latest from one of them.
Some weather maps and forecasts use
Universal Time (aka GMT).
WEB CAMS!
It be happening, like, right now! Below are links to "almost"
live digital cameras throughout the state pointed at various places.
DelDOT gets on the stick and puts up some live traffic cameras. Live
traffic reports also available at this site.
Almost live pictures of Pennsylvania Avenue in Wilmington. A much neater
cam is on the Surekill Distressway,
but that isn't in Delaware. Why is all the neatest stuff in Philly anyway?!
[review: 14dec96]
Shows a live picture of Rehoboth Beach. By looping the "GIF" file that is
sent to your browser, this image is updated continuously so you can actually
watch the movement of the waves and people on the boardwalk. This is
really neat stuff. However, do the net a big favor and don't walk away and
leave this looping. What a drag on bandwidth! [reviewed: 27may97]
The University of Delaware has pointed the above two digital cameras at
the construction sites of their newest buildings. They appear to be updated
about once an hour. Check out the progress each day. Click on the photo to
get a larger, more detailed picture. [reviewed: 26sep96]
