Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Water and Wastewater Operators Training Center is a project funded through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Delaware Technical & Community College and its Bulgarian partner, the Bulgarian National Association of Water Quality. Their goal was to develop a sustainable water and wastewater operators' training center in Bulgaria. The project began in October 2003. This center will provide technical training to operators, supervisors, and managers of water and wastewater treatment plants, enabling Bulgaria to meet its goals for improving delivery and quality of water and water treatment services. Delaware Tech is working with members of the Bulgarian Parliament and ministry officials to build a regulatory, financial, and technical framework that will allow Bulgaria to continue this work once USAID's support is completed.

Croatia

Delaware Tech and the University of Zagreb are collaborating to provide instruction of environmental sector managers in project management, health and safety management, and corporate systems of environmental management. In addition, college faculty have met with Croatian water sector and association representatives to provide information on assessment, evaluation and planning for upgrading and linking a national system of environmental laboratories.

In 2004, Delaware Tech presented a seminar on water environment training to Croatian ministry, regulatory, municipal, and private company officials.

During 2005, Delaware Tech instructed a project management course for University of Zagreb. This instruction was used in the new master's degree program in environmental management for nontraditional learners.

Proposals have been submitted to the University of Zagreb to offer training for hazardous waste laboratory technicians and laboratory technology demonstrations.
