| Welcome to the Architectural Engineering Technology (AET) program. This well respected program will provide you with a working knowledge of architectural design as well as how to develop and present architectural design and construction documents using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. This program covers the standards and codes for residential and light commercial design, cost estimating, project planning, contract and specification writing, surveying, and design considerations for construction materials and building services. Also covered is the latest in sustainable design practices, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). You will work with design professionals on community design projects for the College and local non-profits and learn the latest techniques and technologies used in today's architectural design environment.
You will also take support courses in computers, mathematics, statics and strength of materials, physics, technical writing, and social sciences to provide you with a broad academic background for further studies and/or career advancement. Transfer opportunities are available to other university programs in both architectural engineering technology and accredited architectural design programs leading to licensure as a registered architect. |
