| Civil Engineering Technology |
| Welcome to the Engineering Technologies Department. Civil Engineering Technology is one of the broadest fields in the overall practice of engineering. The Survey and Materials option covers the general principles of civil engineering technology with an emphasis on surveying and construction materials. The program also covers soils and requirements for using concrete and asphalt in construction; hydraulics and hydrology; cost estimating; project planning; contract and specification writing; and structural analysis. You will develop the skills needed for surveying; learn the techniques for analyzing and presenting survey data and civil designs using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software; and learn the fundamental legal considerations in land surveying. Hands on projects provide the opportunity to conduct tests on structures and materials as well as analyze and design civil projects using current standards. You will take support courses in computers, mathematics, physics, technical writing, and social sciences providing a broad academic background for further studies and/or career advancement. |
