Elderhostel is an international, educational adventure program for older adults. There are various types of Elderhostel programs: traditional, service, intergenerational, outdoor adventure, international. Traditional Elderhostel consists of one week studying three liberal arts courses with 22 hours of instruction plus field trips. Local residents may enroll in Elderhostel on a commuter basis.

Cultural travel for the general community (not just senior citizens) in the Tri-state area as well as around the world.

Certain courses that offer neither credit, nor job skills, provide opportunities for personal enrichment to adults of all ages. The Personal Enrichment selection includes arts, crafts, exercise, languages, cooking, financial, self-improvement, and conferences, which are based on continual assessments of community and campus needs.

Programs are developed to address the social needs of Sussex Countians. Assessment of community needs and interests to discern demand for offerings requires networking with various business and industry personnel, public schools, Delaware Commission for Women, staff from other agencies, social and professional groups, and others. Membership in the Inter-Agency Council of Sussex County allows for continual assessment of community needs and modification of social program offerings.
