Educational Talent Search

Mission

The mission of the Educational Talent Search Program is to assist all participants in completing high school and undertaking a program of postsecondary education by providing academic services and activities, career orientation, college exploration, financial literacy, and personal enrichment.

Vision

The Educational Talent Search Program will provide quality academic, college, and career guidance and financial literacy services to empower all participants to achieve their educational and personal goals. The Educational Talent Search staff is united and committed to serving participants loyally with sensitivity to help prepare them for lifelong learning in a diverse and changing society.

Summary of Services

Educational Talent Search is a federally funded program that provides college and career counseling to students to promote their entrance into postsecondary education following high school graduation.

To achieve the objectives of the program and assist students in successfully enrolling in college, the ETS program offers the following services:

  • Academic, financial, and personal counseling
  • Career exploration and aptitude assessment
  • Tutorial services & study skills
  • "Tomorrow's Talent" quarterly newsletter
  • Career and college related workshops
  • Assistance in completing college admissions and financial aid applications
  • Summer Leadership Conference for middle school students
  • SAT and college application fee waivers for senior participants
  • Tours of postsecondary institutions

*All services are offered free of charge to Educational Talent Search participants.*

Funding

Educational Talent Search is a TRIO program funded by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE). For the program year 2009-10, the Owens Campus was awarded $299,510 in federal funds by the USDOE .
