Environmental Training

The mission of the Environmental Training Center at Delaware Technical and Community College, Owens Campus is to provide applicable classroom training as well as on-site technical assistance to Delaware's environmental workforce.

Classroom training consists of credit and non-credit programs for well drillers, water and wastewater operators. The non-credit programs include courses that prepare operators to successfully complete the state's rigorous licensing examination. Once operators are licensed, the Environmental Training Center provides on-going continuing education classes and seminars. The Associates of Applied Science Degree in water or wastewater technology is an in-depth education deigned to produce technical experts and future managers for the environmental professional fields.

The Environmental Training Center also operates the 104G operator outreach program. This is a program funded by the USEPA. Its primary function is to assist the operators of small communities in achieving or maintaining compliance with their National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) discharge permit. One of our on-site trainers will provide an initial diagnostic evaluation of the facility. The trainer will then work with the operator to develop a custom training and/or action plan. This service is free to the most municipal plants in the State of Delaware. Private facilities must pay for this service. To date, our trainers have assisted ten communities in the county.
