Within the options available in the Computer Information Systems department, students are taught to use a wide variety of software found in business, including microcomputer networking. Students take a combination of computer language programming, software applications, systems analysis, and related accounting and mathematics courses which give them the skills in demand in today' s business world.

Partnerships formed by the CIS department with national companies such as IBM and Microsoft provide benefits to the students. These companies offer guidance on keeping technology courses up-to-date, copies of software for home use as well as on-campus applications, vendor-approved courseware for use in the classes, and periodic discounts on certification examinations.

The CIS department faculty is committed to a hands-on, practical approach to teaching and learning. Emphasis is placed on using examples from business and industry that prepare our students to be successful upon graduation. Several faculty hold industry-recognized certifications.
