What will I be able to do when I graduate?
Upon graduation, Communications students will be able to:
- Create news stories for print and electronic media
- Utilize online resources for research purposes, including use of the Web and e-mail
- Analyze legal issues affecting the media, including libel, privacy, and the First Amendment
- Deliver a self-prepared presentation
- Utilize design principles to develop a Web page
- Formulate responses to ethical situations and their legal ramifications in the media industry
- Apply editing skills as they relate to electronic media
Is there a student club?
The Communications Technology developed a student-run club in January 2004 that is affiliated with the National Communication Association.
The purpose of the National Communication Association Student Club (NCASC) is to promote the study, teaching, and application of the principles of communication through educational and social functions that are relevant to the membership of the club.
In addition, because students have access to media production equipment, the club produces radio and television public service announcements annually for a local non-profit organization. In 2004, the club partnered with Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Is the program associated with professional organizations?
The Communications Technology is affiliated with the following organizations:
- Member of the National Communication Association
- Member of the Broadcast Education Association
- Member of the Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association
What if I want to continue my education?
In 2007 the Communications Technology entered into an articulation agreement with Wilmington College that would ensure junior status to recipients of the Associate of Arts in Communications from Delaware Tech. Students would then be eligible to study for a bachelor's degree in general studies at Wilmington College.
The department is pursuing similar agreements with other four-year institutions. Graduates have transferred numerous program credits to the University of Delaware, Delaware State University, Wilmington College. and Salisbury University among others.
