Question - Can I use my existing tests (in electronic format) in BlackBoard?

Answer - You may be able to slightly modify Word or text files to create assessments in BlackBoard by using a quiz generator. Ask your campus Blackboard person for assistance or go directly to the site by following this link. Quiz Generator

Question - How can I copy all or part of a course in BlackBoard?

Answer - Copying course content is a quick and simple way to move information from one course or section to another. A couple of things to make the copy process more simple is to remember that you must be listed as the instructor in both the "source" and "destination" course. Write down CRN and Section information for the destination course to save time, never check the button to copy "enrollment", and remember to press the copy button only once. This will eliminate copying an item multiple times. Follow this link for more information on the copy process. BlackBoard Copy Tutorial

Known Problems with BlackBoard

  1. Offline Content - The "Offline Content" feature that allows you to link to instructor provided information on a CD-ROM is not working. Blackboard is aware of the problem. Students can access material from a CD-ROM by selecting their drive from "My Computer" and choosing the file they want to open.
  2. WYSIWYG Double Spacing - The editor double spaces text by default. If you want to avoid double spacing: - Use the Shift + Return at the end of each line, or - Use MS Word to write the text you want to place in the editor. Select the text, copy it, and paste it into the Blackboard Editor.
  3. File Naming Problems - File names for use in Blackboard assignments must not contain characters other than numbers and English language letters. Files with symbols such as # can not be read by the instructor for grading.
