Radiologic Technology Clinical Experience - Owens Campus, Delaware Tech The Radiologic Technology Associate Degree program prepares students to learn the skills necessary to become clinically competent professionals for entry level radiographer positions. A radiologic technologist is a medical imaging professional that produces images of human anatomy for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of injury or illness.

The field of radiology requires a strong background in anatomy and physiology, mathematics and health-related studies. Students will have the opportunity to learn imaging techniques and equipment manipulation in a state-of-the-art energized laboratory located in our integrated skills classroom. Radiologic Technology Energized LabStudents will also acquire clinical skills by rotating through various clinical education settings. Graduates from the program enjoy the flexibility of pursuing employment within many multidiscipline facilities with competitive salaries. A growing number of graduates continue their education by specializing in various imaging modalities.

Radiologic Technology Program Mission Statement

The Associate of Applied Science Degree Program in Radiologic Technology at the Owens Campus supports the College' s mission through the development of skilled, competent and professional entry-level medical radiographers. The program responds to the workforce needs of Delaware and its medical constituents by providing a local source of registered radiologic technologists.

The educational process involves both didactic and clinical experience through affiliations with the four major hospitals located in Sussex and Kent Counties along with outpatient facilities.

Program Goals (Program Graduate Competencies)

The goal of the Radiologic Technology Program is to prepare qualified graduates to successfully pass the national registry examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.). The Radiologic Technology Program will achieve its mission through the following goals:

  1. Graduates will demonstrate clinical competence by performing a full range of radiologic procedures on all patient populations.
  2. Graduates will professionally utilize verbal, nonverbal and written communication in patient care intervention and professional relationships.
  3. Graduates will demonstrate professional growth and development by practicing the profession's code of ethics and comply with the profession's scope of practice.
  4. Graduates will demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills in the performance of radiographic procedures.
