New Castle County Science Expo

The New Castle County Science Expo inspires, educates and challenges area middle and high school students to explore the world around them using the scientific method. Students perform hands-on research and share the results of their experiments with their peers, teachers and others in the field.

There are 15 categories including math, physics, social science, biology, zoology and computer science. Younger students may undertake consumer science research projects ^__ for example, comparing absorbency in various brands of paper towels.

More than 100 members of the community annually volunteer as judges in their area of expertise. They evaluate the projects and question students about how they arrived at their scientific conclusions, then award prizes in each category.

A select group of winners in the New Castle County Science Expo are invited to attend the regional Delaware Valley Science Fair in Philadelphia in April. Winners from the Delaware Valley fair are invited to attend the International Fair, usually held in May.

General Info

The Twelfth Annual New Castle County Science Research Expo hosted by the Stanton Campus of Delaware Technical & Community College will be held February 20, 21, and 22, 2008.
