1. Old Business.
Kay has sent the Middle States survey to Ken re: improvement in Technical Services. Ken said now that the college has a new CTO (Chief Technology Officer), Peter Shoudy, he will run the survey by him before implementing anything.
The reason for the delay in adjuncts being able to get their logons is because there is a shortage of staff in Human Resources at both the Stanton and Wilmington campuses. Hopefully with the creation or reinstatement of new positions in the fall, including Human Resources, this situation will be resolved.
URL’s for cheap reliable software will be forwarded to Mary Jane who will create a webpage including links to these sites.
The problem with the nurses accessing Blackboard has been explained. The lead teacher has access to Blackboard, and other instructors must access through her/him.
2. Rob’s and Ken’s workshops were suggested to the Inservice Committee as possible topics for Inservice Day in August. Each workshop will be about 45 minutes. Final details to be worked out.
3. SLOA/ESOA workshops are not mandatory, but it is recommended that everyone attend. Andrew Zimmerman said he is working on restructuring the Friday afternoon portion so that it doesn’t go on so late.
4. Rob McCray to contact the Registration Committee to see if faculty can be informed electronically, possibly through Blackboard, when a student is deceased. This will preclude faculty from calling the family to find out why a student has not been attending.
5. Other business.
Ken presented two software updates: faculty and staff can now do their own file restores, and have easier and more extensive access to home directories. Ken will present this, and more, at his inservice workshop.
Mary Jane to develop a webpage sponsored by this committee that would provide useful tech information for faculty and staff. Alan suggested calling it “Tech Tips.” 4-5 suggestions came out of the meeting that Mary Jane can include on the site.
