Welcome to the Construction Management Program here at Delaware Technical & Community College!
Our Construction Management program prepares individuals to work in the office/business end of a construction firm. Students are required to take a core of construction courses and business courses. The student chooses several elective courses to broaden his/her background in a specialized area.
In general, Construction Management Technicians apply comprehensive project controls to help manage the critical issues of time, cost, scope, quality, and safety of a construction project. They are trained in all aspects of the construction process, from the design phase to jobsite management. They may work in the field coordinating construction projects, work in a contractor’s office, or own their own construction company. They are involved in the layout, construction, inspecting, estimating, scheduling, marketing, coordinating or supervision of construction projects.
Construction management is a professional discipline focused on the administration and supervision of all phases of construction, including planning, design, pre-construction and post-construction. Construction Managers are used to promote the successful execution and completion of construction projects to achieve the desired quality, cost, time and scope.

Graduates from the program will be prepared to qualify for paraprofessional employment in the construction industry. Career positions include engineering aide, materials and job estimator, assistant construction supervisor/project manager, specification writer, material salesperson, building inspector, and office manager. Graduates of this program are prepared for immediate productivity in the profession.
