Transfer Information

A student who is considering transferring to another college or university after attending Delaware Tech should begin their planning in their first year at DTCC. The student should also consider the following points:

* Accepting transfer credit is the decision of the other institution, not Delaware Tech. To find out what credits will transfer officially, the student must contact that college or university.

* The possibilities of education beyond the DTCC AS degree vary greatly depending upon which type of program the student is seeking to pursue. There is no uniform transfer path for civil engineering, architectural engineering, or construction management.

* The programs baccaluareate institutions offer in the AEC field also vary considerably, especially in architecture. The number of credits that will transfer can vary from one to another.

* Most baccalaureate institutions require a minimum cumulative grade point average to consider a transfer application. Transfer admission is also competitive. If a lot of students apply in the same year, the cut-off point for the GPA may be higher that year.

* Accepting course credit for transfer may also require a portfolio submission, especially for architecture programs. Some courses may be awarded transfer credit only on the basis of the student’s portfolio, not their transcript grade.

Note: the information on the DTCC department web site about transfer opportunities is provided as a courtesy to our students. Definitive requirements can only be obtained from senior institutions.
