RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARTICIPANTS

Responsibilities of Students

  • Obtain a dealer, fleet, independent, or franchise sponsor.
  • Provide sponsoring employer with responsible and productive employment throughout program length and thereafter.
  • Maintain high academic and attendance standards.
  • Participate in all learning activities at the scheduled times.
  • Pass all required classes pertaining to the Automotive Program.
  • Pay for program costs: tuition, fees, books, tools, etc.
  • Wear appropriate work uniform during campus and dealership training.
  • Maintain valid driver's license.

Responsibilities of Sponsoring Location

  • Identify interest in being a sponsoring location so name can be made available to interested student applicants.
  • Appoint a "Location Coordinator" to help interview prospective students, develop trainee to full productivity level and to work with the "College Automotive Department Chair".
  • Interview and select prospective students.
  • Agree to provide coordinated work experience in accordance with the program schedule.
  • Pay trainee during periods of coordinated work experience.
  • Provide related work experience that supplements the trainee's most recent instruction.
  • Provide the new student employee with work uniforms.
  • Actively participate on the Advisory Council for Automotive Education.

Note: Student's employment at the location is based on participation in the Automotive Program. If the student should fail any automotive or academic courses related to, or drops out of the Automotive Program, the student can no longer be an employee of the sponsoring location.
