MAKE It! Camp 2006
The summer camp, “Manufacturing Awareness for Kids Everywhere,” brings kids and companies together to promote the value of technical education. The students tour local manufacturing facilities and build a sound-activated electronic car with a Corian chassis that the students machine. They paint and decorate their cars, race them and prizes are given to the race winner and the student with the “coolest” paint job.
Alan Lynam, chair of the Mechanical Engineering Technology faculty and a past chairman of the Delaware Chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, is the MAKE-It camp coordinator. He draws on the talent of instructional staff members and camp staff to make the experience fun, challenging and rewarding.
