Fluid Power Laboratory
Programs & Courses | Lab Equipment

The Fluid Power Lab provides a technical environment where students have the opportunity to simulate hydraulic and pneumatic power theory with laboratory benches and various related fluid components. The labs are performed in small groups, thus, are very student/teacher interactive. Lab activities include design, set-up, operation, reading gages, and calculations.

Upon completion of the lab activity, a formal written report is submitted. The report includes procedures, schematics, component functions, recording data, graphing, answering questions, troubleshooting, and a conclusion.

Special topics involve the study of pumps, compressors, linear actuators, rotary motors, valves, pressure gages, flow meters, and both manual/electric system operation.

The Fluid Power Lab supports the following programs:

MET-115          Introduction to Engineering

MET-150          Basic Mechanical Systems

MET-241          Fluid Mechanics

MET-248          Electromechanical Systems

Chemical Operators Certificate Program

The lab is equipped with the following equipment:
2 Pneumatic Training benches (operating on both shop air and portable  compressors)
2 Hydraulic Training benches (electric motors driven with manual, mechanical, and electrical control options)
1 Pump Cavitation bench (electric motor driven)
1 Mini- Festo-Dadactic hydraulic bench
