Workshop 1: Selecting topics
Learn the process experienced writers go through when they are trying to decide on a topic for a writing project. If you have already been assigned a research paper in a class you are taking this semester, bring the assignment sheet with you to this workshop.
|
Workshop 2: Finding and evaluating sources
Learn how to find the sources that will be easiest to work with and will give your paper credibility. If you have already started finding sources for a current project, bring them to this workshop for discussion.
|
Workshop 3: Taking notes for a research paper
Learn how to select and organize facts and to prepare them for use in your paper. If you have already started finding sources for a current project, bring them to this workshop for discussion.
|
Workshop 4: Citing sources fairly and accurately
Learn how to use APA style parenthetical citations and a reference list to accurately and fairly attribute source material in your writing. If you have already selected sources for a current project, please bring them to the workshop.
|
Workshop 5: Blending source material into your paper
Learn the difference between fair research writing and good research writing. Learn different strategies for incorporating facts from outside sources and making them flow smoothly within your writing. If possible, bring a hard copy of your rough draft as well as an electronic version.
|
Workshop 6: Formatting the research paper
Learn how to make your paper look the way it’s supposed to look: title page, page numbers, margins, font, and so on. Bring an electronic version of your paper if you want to work on it in the workshop.
