IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) Grant

$17 Million over 5 years - July 2004 to June 2009

Delaware Tech will serve as the pipeline to biomedical education, research, and training for a broad cross section of Delaware’s population including traditionally underrepresented groups such as minorities, women, and the economically disadvantaged.

Our purpose is to increase the scientific research literacy of undergraduate and associate-level students at the INBRE partner institutions.

We will develop a workforce training and retraining program for the biomedical sector utilizing, where appropriate, the research programs and network developed under the past or previous BRIN and the current INBRE programs.

The Delaware INBRE program is supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health - National Center for Research Resources (NIH-NCRR) under NIH grant number 2 P20 RR016472-04.

DELAWARE TECH WILL:

  • Train undergraduate students in biotechnology and biomedical (health) technologies;

  • Foster biomedical undergraduate research through student research internships;

  • Identify health care needs and develop new programs to meet those needs;

  • Improve economic development within Delaware through workforce training;

  • Increase the statewide science and technology knowledge through training, seminars, courses and workshops.
