The Department of language & Culture offers two evening programs for those who wish to develop skills in signing:
1. Certificate Program in American Sign Language
2. Diploma Program in American Sign Language
Certificate Program in American Sign Language - The certificate program provides students with fundamental American Sign Language skills needed for communication with Deaf people. Deaf culture is a second essential area of study. The program is designed for persons whose personal or professional need to communicate with Deaf people requires a more than rudimentary signing ability. It can enhance the value of employees in social service, medical, educational or business settings.
Diploma Program in American Sign Language - The diploma program in American Sign Language not only focuses on the development of language skills and cultural understanding, but also includes general education requirements which will better enable students to compete successfully in the job market. Students will study the linguistic structure of ASL and improve their overall communication ability by becoming familiar with Deaf Culture.
