FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are English as a Second Language students allowed to take other courses?
Students who take courses or who are placed into the intermediate level of ESL or higher are permitted to take an appropriate math course(s) with their studies.  To take college-level courses in other degree programs, students must be enrolled in or complete ESL 100, ESL for Degree Programs. In most cases, after a student has completed their ESL courses, they may then enroll in other college courses.

Are all students required to take ESL courses?
English is a requirement for all Delaware Tech students, both native and non-native speakers of English. Students are placed into different levels and courses in the ESL program based on their placement evaluations when they apply. If a student places into a certain level of ESL, then he or she is required to finish that level of ESL before moving forward in the English program.
