Certified EKG Technician

The Certified EKT Technician (CET) program is designed to prepare students with the skills needed to obtain employment as a EKG Technician or Monitor Tech in the healthcare field. Students will learn both 3 and 12-lead EKG's, basic arrhythmia an the diseases which causes them. This course is designed for the beginner and will include an introduction to Medical Terminology, and Anatomy & Physiology. During the course, students will practice lead placement and learn to distinguish wave forms and artifacts. They will understand and apply HIPPA guidelines, and employer expectations in areas of communications, appearance, demeanor, and reliability. Students will attend a clinical rotation in a medical facility to enhance the skills obtained in the classroom. Graduates from the Certified EKG program will sit for a national certification exam from National Healthcare Association (NHA).
220 hour program to include a 90 hour clinical rotation
Two Sessions:
April 19 to June 25, 2010
Classes will be held Monday - Friday, 9 am - 3 pm
Note: Clinical experience days begin earlier than instructional days.

This training is free to State of Delaware residents if they meet the Department of Labor eligibility requirements. As a condition of acceptance, applicants agree to seek and obtain full-time, training-related employment. Job placement assistance is provided.
Recent graduates earned starting salaries ranging from $9.00 to $14.00 an hour depending on employer, economic climate, and skills.
