Upward Bound is a national program for high school students who are serious about their education and have a strong desire to go to college after graduation. It is designed for teens whose parents are not college graduates and/or meet income eligibility guidelines. Freshmen, sophomores and juniors from all Kent County high schools may apply. Enrollment is limited to 65.
The program operates year round, with both school year and summer components. During the school year, students meet weekly at their high school with program staff for academic advisement and assistance. A workshop is held each month on the Terry Campus, usually Saturday mornings. Guest speakers discuss college admissions, financial aid, and other pertinent topics. |

| The summer component is a six-week academic program. Students are bused to campus each day and take part in a variety of classes. They also tour several colleges, particularly ones they are considering for future applications. At the end of the program, a three-day trip to nearby states with colleges of interest rounds out the summer component. |
