The Culinary Arts Kitchen is located in the Educational Technology Building. Classes fill quickly and have limited seating.
Chef Ed will demonstrate and share a selection of fall favorites that are quick and easy weekday night dishes that will be flavorful and nutritious. Orange flavored chicken stir-fried with Asparagus and Almonds, Cedar Smoked Salmon with Smothered Onions and Balsamic served with Creamy Polenta and Beer-marinated Pork Tenderloin served with Red Cabbage and Apples

Join Chef Elena for a hands-on cooking class featuring the joys of Mexican cuisine. Learn first hand how to prepare flour tortillas, corn tortillas, and salsas. These will be used for the main dishes of Chili Verde (Pork braised with tomatillos) and Chorizo con Queso. Any night can be taco night after taking this class!

This fun class will have you chopping, rolling and twisting your way through various popular Asian appetizers. You will have the chance to make Japanese Maki Rolls, Chinese Spring Rolls and Fried Wontons, Thai Satay Skewers, and Vietnamese Fresh Spring Rolls. Once you master these simple techniques you can tailor them to your own ideas. .

In this “hands-on” workshop, Chef Ed will teach you the basic skills needed for everyday cooking. While learning the basics, you will prepare a delicious meal that will include a hearty Minestrone Soup followed by a classic Chicken Françoise with Rice Pilaf. For dessert, student chefs will prepare an easy Chocolate Bread Pudding. Basic cooking and knife skills will be emphasized. You may never look at your kitchen the same way again!

As winter arrives what better to way to warm up the insides then with classic Café dishes. You will learn how easy it is to make dishes like French Onion Soup, Baked Cauliflower Au Gratin and Chicken Braised with Sweet Garlic. Preparing these meals will be fun and it will leave your appetite well satisfied. Cost: $49 (3 hrs)

Tired of electronic gift cards? Don’t want to sign up yet another food of the month club? Well Delaware Tech’s Culinary Department has the evening for you. Chef Elena will guide you as you create your own mustards, infusions of oil and vinegar, along with the straightforwardness of baking your own crackers. To round out the savory selections, you’ll also learn the ease of making your own chocolate truffles. This is an opportunity to have fun with gift giving, while “blending” in your own style.
