How to Prepare for a Web Site

1. Decide on the purpose of your site.
2. Collect your content (text, images, video, and animations.)
3. Decide on how you will organize your content while keeping in mind that you will be presenting it over the web.
Devise a hiearchy scheme for your site content.
Create an outline or flowchart of your content.
4. Decide on your primary topics, these will most likely become your menu items.
Make sure your menu text makes sense and is readable to your audience.
5. Organize your content into chunks of information that you can present on the web in one to three screens (including the menu, header, and images you might have.)
Make your text scan-able and readable.
Keep your sentences to no more than 20 words.
Keep your paragraphs to 2 - 5 sentences.
6. Provide a page title for each page to help your user navigate and know where they are.
8. Only use images, audio, video, or animations that supports or adds to the overall message of your content. Make sure they are properly sized (pixels) for the page.
