Mr. Ronald Wilson
(1937- 1996)

Mr. Ronald WilsonAfter retiring from the U.S. Air Force and Conrail, Mr. Wilson embarked on his third career by earning an Associate's Degree in Business Administration/Accounting in 1979. In 1981, he received his B.S. in Business Administration from Delaware State University. He was founding owner and president of Ron Wilson Associates in Smyrna, Delaware, an accounting/tax preparation firm. Mr. Wilson quickly gained a reputation for accuracy and reliability resulting in a very successful business. His firm was among the first in Delaware to adopt direct electronic reporting to the Internal Revenue Service. The business continues to thrive today under the management of his daughter, Terry Kreiser.

Mr. Wilson was an active member of the National Society of Public Accountants, serving on many of their committees, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was also an active supporter of the DARE Educational Program sponsored by the Delaware State Police in public schools.

Mr. Wilson always remained involved with the Terry Campus after his graduation and supported the Business Department both with his time and through financial contributions. He always found time to talk to student clubs or accounting classes. Mr. Wilson was always willing to open his business to student field trips, even if the visit was in the middle of "tax season," the busiest time of the year. He always called Terry Campus first when he needed to increase his staff. Mr. Wilson was selected by the Terry Campus to represent the Alumni at the 1995 Commencement Ceremony. In his message to the graduates, he stressed his philosophy that, if you put education first, you will be successful in the future. He also felt that you should remember the help you received along the way, and always be willing to give something back.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Eve, who lives in Townsend; and his children, Terry Kreiser, Felton; Tina Hurley, Dover; and John Wilson, who currently resides in Oak Grove, Kentucky.
