All degree-seeking students who have declared a program major are assigned a faculty advisor within their program area. Undeclared students may meet with a counselor for advisement. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with their advisors each semester to obtain approval of selected courses for registration and to monitor and evaluate academic progress. Advisors are also available to assist students with non-academic inquiries.

For a complete list of student advisors and counselors, please click here.

Admissions/Assessment

Because students entering college differ considerably in achievement in reading, English and mathematics, applicants are generally required to take the ACCUPLACER, a computerized placement test, as part of the admissions process. This test allows the College to identify the appropriate course level for each student in each of these subjects. The test is given in the Assessment/Career Center in the Terry Building. Transfer students or students with SAT/ACT scores are encouraged to meet with a counselor to determine if there is a need for further placement testing. Additional assessments may be required for certain program majors.

Career Development

Career development services are provided through the Assessment/Career Center. Students are encouraged to visit the Center at any point during their college careers. DISCOVER, a career guidance assessment, enables students to learn more about careers that most closely match their interests and career goals.
