The Transitional Studies Program at the Terry Campus of Delaware Tech offers students the opportunity to achieve the levels of preparedness they need to be successful in their major field of study. Students enter Delaware Tech with very diverse backgrounds as some have been out of school for several years and now want to pursue a degree; some want to switch career fields and need formal training; and some come from backgrounds where English is not their native language. For these reasons, students may score below the credit level on the College Placement Test (CPT) which they take when they first enter Delaware Tech. Those scores then place students in Basic or Pre-Tech level courses in reading, English, or math. Our program is designed to help students improve academic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. The goal of the Transitional Studies Program is to provide students with the foundation of skills necessary to move on and succeed in their credit level courses.

A team of instructors, advisors, and counselors works to ensure that transitional studies students receive the instruction and the support necessary to be academically successful and, at the same time, to stay connected to the career field the student has chosen.

Everyone at the Terry Campus has the same purpose: to help students learn all they can and to stay in college to earn the degree or diploma they desire.
