The Academic Center is located in Room 218 of the Terry Building. Transitional Studies students in English, reading and math courses can work on computer-assisted programs and tutorials, view videos, word process writing assignments and read technology and course-related materials. The Academic Center is staffed by helpful Lab Techs who can assist students with whichever course they are studying. The computers in the Academic Center have Windows XP as the operating system; students should provide their own disk. Each computer is linked to the Internet and is networked to a printer.
Students are able to work on research projects and access email in the Academic Center. Adjacent to the Academic Center is the multi-media classroom which is intended for whole class instruction involving computer use. Many students find the time spent in the Academic Center is extremely beneficial in helping them complete their courses in one semester or less. |
