The diagnostic medical sonographer/technologist assists the physician in gathering sonographic data necessary to diagnose a variety of conditions involving well being and disease.

The program at the Wilmington Campus offers three program technologies: general, echocardiography, and vascular.

» The general learning concentration focuses on the areas of abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology, and superficial structures.

» The cardiac learning concentration focuses on procedures, which help to diagnose abnormalities related to heart disease.

» The vascular learning concentration focuses on arterial and venous diagnostic procedures in the evaluation of vascular disease.
