| Infant Room |
|
The Infant room has the capacity to accommodate six infants between the ages 3 months to 18 months. Each child is like a color in the rainbow and we ensure that they shine in each area of development.
The environment is set up to increase the children’s growth and development in the area of gross motor, fine motor, emotional, cognitive, language and self-help. Children start as early as 3 months to explore cornstarch goop, flubber and water. Through their exploration each child has the opportunity to become a budding artist. Their demonstration for the love of books at this age is a joy to witness and we provide a variety of literature for each child’s interests. The environment builds their confidence and it can be seen by the way they walk or creep around the room. It would be great to come by when we are having a tea party; you would think you are in England. Yes, at this age we expose children to a variety of multi-cultural activities.
The Infant room teachers do an excellent job of preparing the infants for the next level, which is the Toddler room. Often, the children are more ready than the parents to move on. You are welcome to stop in and see us.

Welcome to the Toddler classroom where you will meet children from the ages of 18-36 months old. The classroom environment is composed of area centers which allow one-to-one small group activities. The room is arranged with child (toddler) size furniture to accommodate them. We have shelved areas that are open to allow classroom materials to be accessible for their use.
The activities are planned weekly in which you will find either teacher-oriented as well as child-oriented. The following domain areas are: Social/Emotional, Cognitive, Language, Fine Motor, Gross Motor and Sensory. Our environment also offers individual care that nurtures each child according to their needs (with hugs, high-fives, etc.).
Toddlers are encouraged to learn and develop independent self-help skills. They receive positive verbal praise and a feeling of self accomplish ment. Also, they are encouraged to learn and accept one another’s similarities as well as differences.
We certainly encourage our families to support and participate in classroom activities, field trips and special center events.

The Preschool environment at the Child Development Center is an interactive classroom comprised of three year olds to five year olds. The Preschool is split up into two separate spaces; the Green Room and the Pink Room. Both places are well loved by the children and contain many opportunities for the children to foster skills they already posses and also help them to develop skills that may be emerging. The green room focuses on many hands on learning centers with language based activities, math concepts, fine motor development, technology, and many manipulatives to engage their minds. The pink room acts as an indoor gross motor setting. The children are exposed to dramatic play, blocks, sensory and easel painting in this room. Because we work under the framework of a developmentally appropriate classroom, the teaching team works together to create memorable and meaningful experiences for the children ranging from a thematic unit on Apples all the way to a unit of study based on Fine Arts. Children learn best through play, and the teachers work extremely hard to maximize the children’s involvement to help scaffold their learning to the next level of development.
