The introductory level of network training is completed in two courses:

CIS 146 Networking I
This course is designed to teach basic network interoperability and is part of the Cisco Networking Academy Program. The second half of the semester teaches basic router commands. Hands-on laboratories are part of the curriculum. Five contact hours: three lecture hours, two laboratory hours.

CIS 196 Networking II
This course teaches switches and routers and builds on the information presented in the Networking I course. The second half of the course focuses on wide area network interconnectivity. The course is part of the Cisco Networking Academy Program. Hands-on laboratories are included. Five contact hours: three lecture hours, two laboratory hours.

These courses include all of the material tested in the Cisco Certified Networking Associate test.
