Resources for Faculty

  • The Writing Center offers your students face-to face conferences where they may discuss their writing assignments. Your student does not need to make an appointment. If you have particular concerns that need to be addressed, please ensure that these are noted on the assignment.

  • The Writing Center library has many books reflecting all levels of the English Department curriculum, and covering a variety of writing related questions. All books are for instructor use only and must be returned to the Writing Center.

  • There is a copy of Hairston's classification sheet in the Writing Center sign-in book. This is an error classification list that assists Coaches, students, and faculty in identifying and correcting status marking and other serious errors.

  • The Writing Center utilizes protocol slips to help students and instructors keep track of visits to the Writing Center.

  • Instructors may also call the Writing Center Coordinator (573-5478) to request that a Coach visit a class for a mini-lecture. This Call-a-Coach service can be used to give students a brief orientation to the Writing Center or may provide more specific assistance in areas such as research paper documentation, literary theory/interpretive approaches, or reading a text critically.
