The Women’s Center will be offering various workshops for women this fall.  Topics will include breast cancer awareness, domestic violence awareness and more!  Please check the Web site for workshop information.

Our annual Fall Open House will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2007 between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in the Women’s Center, Room 113 East.  Light refreshments will be provided.  Visit us to see what wonderful programs we are offering for the school year.

Women’s Poetry Corner (monthly meetings)
Beginning Tuesday, September 25, 2007

Poetry corner meets once a month in the Women’s Center
Join us in reading poetry from famous women poets, or share your own piece of poetry! 
The purpose of the Poetry Corner is to bring women together to express and share in the
beauty of poetry, and to explore how it affects each and every one of us.

Breast Cancer Awareness Workshop

Wendi Fox Pedicone, local author and breast cancer survivor will present this powerful workshop.  Wendi is currently living in stage 4 cancer and is an inspirational and motivational speaker.

Wilmington Riverfront's 5th Annual Making Strides for Breast Cancer

Registration begins at 7 am; 5K Run begins at 8 am; 4.5 mile walk begins at 9 am.

Tree of Honor Leaves go on sale from Monday, February 11, 2008
until Friday, March 21, 2008

Leaves are $5 per leaf to honor a special woman in your life.  The leaves will be hung on our Tree of Honor in the lobby of the SE Building at the Wilmimgton campus and will be recognized during our March Women’s History Month Event on March 24, 2008.

Women’s History Month Celebration
March is Women's History Month. This year Delaware Tech's Women's Center is celebrating
and honoring women on Monday evening, March 17, 2008.

Do you know a special woman who has made an impact or a difference in the lives of other
women? Consider nominating her for the Empowering Women Award.  Join us in recognizing,
celebrating and honoring this special woman on Monday evening, March 17, 2008.

Nominations are being accepted between January 7 and February 29, 2008.

Criteria to nominate a special female for the Empowering Women Award:

  • Must be a female who has made an impact or a difference in the lives of other females
  • Nominee must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Both nominee and nominator must attend the "Celebration of Women" on March 17, 2008.

This event will be held in the SE Conference Center at the Wilmington campus from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

To nominate a special woman, please contact Rachael R. Knotts, Counselor, via email:
