Mardi Gras Fundraiser Tops the Million Mark

WILMINGTON - For the eighth year, the dedication of Delaware Tech’s Stanton and Wilmington Campuses’ employees, students, and community members transformed the Wilmington Campus into an Evening at Mardi Gras. The annual gala event is the largest fundraiser for the Stanton and Wilmington Campuses and is known as one of the best parties in town. Volunteers were able to create the sense of an exciting New Orleans venue with first rate entertainment, exciting casino games, a wide variety of fabulous food prepared and donated by the area’s top restaurants, and awe-inspiring donations in the Silent Auction.

Proceeds from this event are directed to Delaware Tech’s Educational Foundation. Scholarships and financial assistance for books, supplies, fees, or even childcare often make the difference for students who are struggling to afford the cost of their education.

This year’s event was host to over 500 guests including Mardi Gras Scholarship Recipients, who were able to mingle with the guests while sharing their experiences and gratitude for the scholarship that enables them to be successful students. The event raised more than $100,000, bringing the grand total for the event to over $1 million dollars in eight years.

“The planning committee is pleased with the success of the event and honored to have made a difference in the lives of the students,” said Cathren Hagan, Acting Program Manager for Workforce Training and an Event Chair.

Mark your calendar for next year’s event to take place on Saturday, February 9, 2013.
