Entrepreneurship Student Brews a Winning Business Plan
STANTON and WILMINGTON - Delaware Tech hosted the 2013 Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition, a challenge for students in Delaware Tech’s Entrepreneurship program. The event was held at the Emerging Enterprise Center of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. Twenty-three students competed in the third annual event, before a panel of 13 judges from the Delaware business community. Business concepts and presentations were judged based on perceived feasibility and growth potential.
After a preliminary round narrowed down the field to five finalists, each student gave a presentation to the judges vying for the grand prize. The five finalists included:
- Dawn Chamberlain – Jazzy Kidz, LLC
- Rebecca Ferris – CapelliCuts Salon
- Michael Finkle – MyFitFuture
- Shelby French – Delaware Coffee Roasters
- Sheris Owens – Montage Beauty Salon & Spa, LLC
The winner of the competition was Shelby French, with her business plan for Delaware Coffee Roasters, a specialty coffee roasting company.
“Our competing students worked hard in preparation for the event” said Dave Hall, Entrepreneurship Program instructor. “I am proud of each and every one of them, and am excited to see their businesses come to life in the future.”
