Heritage Shores Military Club Supports Veterans at Delaware Tech

Officers from the Heritage Shores Military Club in Bridgeville recently presented a $1,000 check to Dr. Bobbi Barends, vice president and campus director, to support the Veterans Resource Center and scholarships for student-veterans.
Members of the Heritage Shores Military Club enjoyed meeting several Delaware Tech veteran students while visiting the Veterans Resource Center, which is located in the Student Services Center at the Owens Campus in Georgetown.
The campus Veterans Resource Center, which officially opened last May, is part of the College’s ongoing efforts to support student-veterans. The Center offers increased support for veterans attending the Owens Campus by hosting guest speakers and student veteran programs such as financial education, tutoring, career workshops, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) seminars. It also provides a meeting space for student-veterans to study, relax, and engage with fellow veterans, as well as a location for the Veterans Inspiring Progress (VIP) student organization, which offers support and networking for the campus veteran community. The Owens Campus has more than 300 student-veterans enrolled this academic year.
The Heritage Shores Military Club will be recognized as a sponsor for the 2018 Run, White & Blue 5K on Thursday, Sept. 6.
To serve as a sponsor or for more information about the Run, White & Blue 5K, please contact Development at bentley@dtcc.edu or (302) 259-6024.
