Meet Delaware Tech's Student Government Association (SGA) Presidents

Jerome Phillips (Dover campus), business administration transfer
Benjamin Cooper (Georgetown campus), general business
Jenna Taylor (Stanton campus), mechanical engineering technology
Kerwin (Boe) Ashe (Wilmington campus), human services/drug & alcohol counseling
We asked each SGA president to share a little about themselves. Here is what they had to say:
What are your career goals?
Jerome Phillips: Investment Banking or Management Consulting
Benjamin Cooper: I want to continue my education but not as a business major. I want to study Art History so that I can be a curator.
Jenna Taylor: At this time, my long-term goal is to be employed by an automotive company, working to design improved safety mechanisms in their vehicles. In the nearer future, I plan to complete my bachelor's degree after graduating from Delaware Tech.
Kerwin (Boe) Ashe: Continue my education, start a foundation for prevention among our youth, and possibly run for political office.
What does leadership mean to you?
Jerome Phillips: Inspiring and enabling others to achieve their goals.
Benjamin Cooper: To me leadership, in its most basic form, is the ability to motivate others toward a common goal. But more than that, leadership involves facilitating the growth of others and supporting them in their endeavors.
Jenna Taylor: Leadership in my eyes means having the opportunity to help and guide those around me. It means reaching out to my peers with compassion and empathy when needed, and providing a listening ear whenever I can.
Kerwin (Boe) Ashe: It means being available, take charge and do what is necessary to complete the task at hand. And to help guide my fellow students.
Name a few goals you hope to achieve as president.
Jerome Phillips: I hope to increase the school's effective communications with the student body and create messaging that prepares students for their next steps upon graduation; be that entry into their careers or continuing education at a four year university.
Benjamin Cooper: I hope to revitalize the SGA at the Owens campus; I want to get people involved and participating in campus life.
Jenna Taylor: With my time in this role, I hope to aid every student in feeling welcome and happy at our campus and to provide students with a way to have their concerns heard and addressed. In addition, I want to give students who are interested in transferring the opportunity to attend tours at a few local colleges, departing from our campus. This is in hopes that the information obtained while on these tours helps students discover the qualities they are looking for in a school while exploring connected degree options.
Kerwin (Boe) Ashe: Scholarship workshops, financial literacy workshops, and increasing student engagement, getting them involved in campus life.
Name one fun fact about yourself.
Jerome Phillips: I spent years playing video games professionally.
Benjamin Cooper: I am an antiquarian (meaning I collect antiques, part of the reason I want to be a curator).
Jenna Taylor: I have been figure skating for 14 years.
Kerwin (Boe) Ashe: I talk to everyone in addition to being a comedian at heart.
