Two Distinguished Alumni Recognized at the Georgetown Campus and Added to the Walk of Success

The Distinguished Alumni/Walk of Success at Delaware Technical Community College's Owens Campus in Georgetown gained two more members at the 2019 Celebration of Giving and Alumni Success event on Oct. 14.
Robert McDonald, a 1969 business administration graduate, and Carla Tingle, a 2010 human services graduate, were honored as this year's Distinguished Alumni. They will each have plaques placed in the sidewalk adjacent to the Student Services Center, which is known as the Walk of Success.
McDonald is a member of Delaware Tech's first graduating class. When he earned his degree at the "Southern Campus," the Jason Technology Center was the only building for the College. McDonald also met his wife of 47 years in that same building. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in accounting and an MBA from Wilmington University. McDonald had a distinguished career in law enforcement, first as an officer for the Wilmington Bureau of Police, and then with the Delaware State Police for 20 years. He retired as lieutenant colonel for statewide operations. After the state police, McDonald became a private practice attorney, which he still does to this day. McDonald is a volunteer at the Talleyville Fire Co. and has been an adjunct instructor for constitutional law at Delaware Tech's Stanton Campus for over 10 years.
Tingle came to Delaware Tech after working at the DuPont Co. in Seaford, and needing to find a second career after it closed. Her passion to help others led her to the human services field, and after graduating from Delaware Tech she went on to earn a bachelor's degree in social work from Delaware State University, and a master's degree in human services administration from Wilmington University. Tingle worked at the Owens Campus for several years as a disabilities support counselor, before accepting a position as coordinator of disabilities services at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md. She has served on the Board of Directors for Pathways to Success and Chesapeake Chrysalis, and is a mentor and role model for Chrysalis Girls Leaders.
