Delaware Tech's Stanton Campus Food Pantry Holds Grand Opening

Newark, Delaware – Delaware Technical Community College's Stanton Campus has established an on-campus food pantry thanks to a donation from the Harry K Foundation and hosted a grand opening celebration on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.
The no-cost pantry will be made available to current Delaware Tech students. Through the program, food insecure individuals will be able to access emergency food and hygiene products.
"The food pantry will address an invisible need at the Stanton Campus and support our students in achieving their dreams of higher education," said Dr. Kathy Janvier, vice president and campus director.
Student volunteers form the Phi Theta Kappa honor society Stanton chapter will staff the pantry, maintain records, and come up with creative ideas to enhance the space.
"The students are working on recipe cards and identifying more community resources, and will be expanding hours as we identify and train more volunteers," said Mike McCloskey, Phi Theta Kappa advisor and academic counselor. "Phi Theta Kappa is honored and proud to be serving fellow students in need."
The Food Bank of Delaware, campus food drives, and community donations will keep the pantry stocked.
