Delaware Tech Alumna Honored By Salisbury University’s Medical Laboratory Science Program

Magdalena Martinez-Villegas, a 2017 graduate of Delaware Tech's medical laboratory technician program (MLT), recently received the Salisbury University Medical Laboratory Science Honored Graduate Award.
Martinez-Villegas graduated from Salisbury University's medical laboratory science program in May of 2020 and is the first Delaware Tech graduate to receive this honor. The award is based on a high level of academic achievement, excellence in professional standards, and great promise in the field.
"She is one of those students who has it all," said Dr. Diane Davis, chair of the medical laboratory science program at Salisbury University. "She is not just extremely intelligent, she is also professional in every sense of the word from excellent attendance to an unequaled work ethic.
"She produced the highest quality of work and always with a smile on her face. We will really miss her, but we know she will be a great asset to the medical laboratory profession."
While completing her degree, Martinez-Villegas worked in the lab at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.
"Maggie was an outstanding student in the MLT program at Delaware Tech," said Linda Collins, department chair and program director of the MLT program at Delaware Tech. "I'm so proud of her accomplishments and I know she is not finished yet.
"She is the future of the medical laboratory field."
