Hometown Heroes Virtual 5k Raises Money for Student Emergency Fund

The Stanton and Wilmington campuses of Delaware Tech hosted the Hometown Heroes Virtual 5k October 16-25, 2020. The virtual run/walk allowed participants to walk or run at their own pace, place, and time. The fundraiser brought in more than $9,000 thanks to 166 walkers and runners, and 11 sponsors, including Gold level sponsor Tetra Tech.
The funds will benefit the Delaware Technical Community College Emergency Fund for Students, which provides financial assistance to students who find themselves in an unexpected or emergency situation that makes it difficult for them to complete their current semester. During these challenging times, the need has been greater than ever.
“Dan and I are grateful for the support of our students from our devoted sponsors and participants in this year’s virtual 5k,” said Lora A. Johnson, vice president and campus director of the Wilmington campus. “We know our students thank you for your contribution.”
