Meet the Recent Athlete Spotlight Students

Delaware Tech student-athletes must excel on and off the field as representatives of the College. Throughout the season on the Delaware Tech Athletics Instagram account, one student-athlete is regularly honored for their overall athletic performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment to education.

Here are the students that were featured on Athlete Spotlight this month:

Cole Matthews
Cole Matthews is a second-year member of the men's basketball team, a management major, and a graduate of Smyrna High School. Matthews was the team's sixth man last season and moved into a starting role this year. Off the court, Matthews is a co-captain this season, while on the court he routinely defends the opposing team’s best player. Through 21 games, Matthews is scoring 8.3 points per game and shooting 39%. He is also averaging 5 rebounds per game and 1.3 steals. "Cole is the ultimate team player," Head Coach Richard Rago said. "Whether it be practice or a game, he gives it his all and draws the rest of the team with him with his attitude and enthusiasm."

Jordan Moore
Jordan Moore is a first-year member of the men's basketball team, an information technology and networking major, and a graduate of William Penn High School. In just his second year of organized basketball, Moore has become an impact player for Delaware Tech and has shown steady progress throughout the season. His progress culminated in a double-double against Essex College on Jan. 21 when he scored 17 points and had 13 rebounds. "Not only is Jordan tremendously improving in his basketball talents on the court, he is winning in the classroom as a Dean's List student," Head Coach Richard Rago said. "We expect he will make a substantial impact for Delaware Tech basketball over the two yeas that we have the privilege of coaching this quiet, soft-spoken, respectful, young man."
